Max can take the heat
Monday, September 4th, 2017Luce’s brother Max heard about Luce not liking the little hot spell that hit California. Max wouldn’t have even noticed since he is used to Arizona weather.

It has been pretty hot outside here the past few days. Fortunately it stays fairly cool inside as long as we are vigilant about keeping everything closed up during the heat of the day. Luce likes to lay on the stone tile with his belly flat on the floor. It look really funny but he obviously doesn’t care.
Ranger has known Luce since the first week we brought him home. At first, Ranger stayed away from Luce, probably not wanting to deal with a (not that) little puppy. Now that Luce is much bigger, they play “the mouth game” together.
Here is a video of the action:
After all that excitement, Luce needed a rest. Ranger said something that sounded like “Luce, das ist mein bett”. Luce didn’t seem to understand but was probably thinking, if I lay here long enough, he will get tired and go away.
Luce really like running water like from the shower or a hose. Oddly enough he does not seem all that interested in bodies of watter be they big like the ocean, or small like a kiddy pool. If you watched the video of him at the “Parks & Rex” event, he went for the fountains and ran though the ankle deep water. Here is a video or him drinking from the garden hose that was suspended outside for him.
Even though Luce is now a local celebrity, all that fame has not gone to his head. He was more than willing to pose for a few pictures for the paparazzi as you can see here:
Luce was on TV today. He was briefly shown on the local news coverage of the “Parks & Rex” event at Simkin’s Family Swim Center. The coverage was broadcast on Sunday Morning News on KSBW but is also on their web site. Click Here to see it. Here are a few screen snapshots:
Luce attended the “Parks & Rex Event” at Simkins Family Swim Center. It is a fund raising event to benefit local kids and shelter animals. We signed Luce up for 15 minutes in the warm water pools. He really liked the shallow kiddy pool with the water fountains as he could drink all he wanted like here:
It was fun for him and apparently people there wanted to take pictures of our “Cane Bellessimo”:
Here is a video of Luce splashing around with Stacey:
In case you are in the area next year, here is some information about today’s event:

Happy Five Months Today. Our (not so) little Luce is 5 months old. This was not actually meant to be patriotic picture, but it kind of came out that way. Then again, Luce is a proud american of immigrant parents.
Luce got to take a short rest from his walk to sit on a park bench:
Lets take a ride in our way way back machine 7 years: This is the same bench that Coco and Ruby liked to take a break at and sit on for a while.
We took Luce to Dog Beach in Santa Cruz, CA (also known at Lighthouse Beach). It is one of the few beaches in which dogs are allowed to be off leash for a few hours in the morning. As usual, he was popular and several people and dogs came over to meet him.
He got to run around with several new friends. It was very cool and overcast so he did not get too hot.
This Husky liked Luce and had a great howl. Luce was probably wondering where his brother Max was.
Here us a close up of Luce and the Husky:
After 15 minutes or so, Luce decided to take a rest on the cool sand.
