Luce on the Grass
Wednesday, July 11th, 2018I took a few pics of Luce while he was taking a rest on the grass one evening:
I took a few pics of Luce while he was taking a rest on the grass one evening:
There is a somewhat unknown spot on the lake near the tip of Dollar Point that we took Luce to. It was a good test of his “Mountain Dog” skills as the trail is narrow and steep. It ends at a very small rocky clearing on the lake. Lake level is high so the clearing was really small. Here are Stacey and Luce taking a break after the climb down:
It turns out the spot is not so secret after all. We were joined by the local “Mountain Dog” who was much more agile on the rocks than Luce:
All in all, Luce did pretty well and even said hello to his new friend:
Here are Stacey and I with the lake in the background.
Take notice of the rock off to the right. When the lake level was lower you could get to it and stay dry. Let’s take a trip in our way, way, way back machine to 1995 and see who might have been here before:
Here are Stacey and Luce at the water’s edge of Lake Tahoe:
Luce was fairly apprehensive at first which is probably natural since this was his first time there. Here is the whole group on a dock that extends out on the lake. There was a young lady working there that was happy to take a few pictures of all of us. This was pretty much like hearing cats getting the 3 of them to look toward the camera.
We found a relatively quiet beach to hang out on for a while and let the boys play in the water. Here is Max thinking about going in after a stick:
Later, it was time for a little rest:
Luce: “Max, I like Baron and all, but, just not like that”
Max: “Yea, he does that sometimes, actually so do I”
Baron: “Yea baby”
Luce: “Did you guys just get out of prison or something?”
Max: “No, but we were cooped up in the car for like, a week… in dog years”
Baron: “Yea baby”
Here the boys are posing while we wait to see if the gondola was running.
After a few minutes, Max and Stacey are getting a little impatient
Luce does not get on the furniture at home. No really, he doesn’t. That is a different story at the vet and apparently on outdoor seating by Starbuck’s.
As a side note, Luce and Max were the only ones who noticed I was taking the picture and I think they were posing.
Max was giving me the “So you are really going to eat that and not share” look:
After he gave up, he went back to his family and tried to forget about the whole thing and as you can see, he doesn’t hold a grudge.
There is a lot of dog in that car! Fortunately, it was only a short ride so they were not crammed in there very long.
Here Stacey is hanging on to Baron:
We took a hike from our hotel to Sawtooth Lake with Luce, Max, Baron, and family. Here is Luce and Baron taking a break:
Here is the group making its way down toward the lake once we crested the top of the hill. Luce is out in front working on getting his “Mountain Dog” badge:
Max had his own idea on the hike and when allowed off leash, decided he needed to run way ahead. I chased him down and on his own, he came running back toward us. I guess he was also working on getting his “Mountain Dog” badge.
Here are Luce and Max contemplating. Max and his amazing tail are on the left and he is probably deciding whether or not to go for the stick. Luce is probably wondering if they can get Baron to go get it.
Here is a video of the boys playing in the lake. The best part is seeing Max full on swimming to fetch a stick. Luce thought about it for a second or two but decided to stay back.
Luce, Max, and Baron were playing with us after dinner on our first night when a few new four-legged friends showed up:
